Oh hello. This week was a weird one in my life. I just got back from New Zealand and I lost my phone in the San Francisco airport. I still committed to my weekly theme, but I didn’t take pictures, because no phone. So all the majority of these pictures were taken at home where I had access to a camera. But yes, back to the theme.
This was a fairly loose theme. I didn’t want to throw on animal print for 5 days. That felt boring and repetitive. So instead I embraced the theme diagonally. Each outfit is either made of actual animal material or is themed around a specific animal. Insane, I know. But whatever. It was enjoyable. I hope you like it?
Monday
This dress isn’t actually suede. It’s be like $300 if it was. But it is faux suede. So that’s close. The tiny necklace IS in fact made of real dinosaur. Paleontologists hate me. The upper on the toe cap of the shoes are straight up calf hair. Because fuck baby cows.
But it was a fun outfit.
Dress: Calvin Klein, Shoes: Calvin Klein, Cardian: Loft, Necklace: From vendor in Chelsea market NYC
Tuesday
Snnnnnake. The leather (pleather) skirt and metallic green top felt super slithery-snake to me. Plus leather loafers.
Top: Thrifted, Skirt: Peter Nygard, Shoes: Madewell
Wednesday
Woodland creature. The outfit felt forest-y. Primarily because of the color scheme, but also because of all those owls on my shirt. Wool pencil skirt and leather loafers. I don’t talk about this shirt enough. It has pockets. I rest my case.
Top: Lumiere, Skirt: J.Crew, Shoes: G.H. Bass & Co
Thursday
We’re on a safari. This outfit actually embraced the animal print. I believe this is cheetah print (as opposed to leopard print). But the overall combo felt ‘formal, professional Jane Goodall’. Which is something I think we’re all striving for in our lives. Leather heels, too!
Top: Edward Petites, Pants: Asos, Shoes: Tahari
Friday
I think to think of this outfit as ‘bird of paradise’. Basically I put together bright colors and bright patterns. I think it definitely drew attention my way. Finished the outfit with patent, leather and suede loafers.
Top: Dex, Skirt: Gibson Latimer, Shoes: Kelsi Dagger
Really, what I learned from this week is that I have an unending collection of animal-material based shoes.
