Week 22: Thrifted

This week will highlight some of the really amazing finds from thrift shops I’ve had. The stores are mostly in Nebraska and mostly still open. I’ll indicate them in each day’s descriptions.

I really enjoy shopping at thrift stores. Whether it’s seeing vintage pieces or just unwanted ones from other people. It’s always fun to find treasure in another person’s trash.

Also, as a note, I don’t own enough thrifted things to make the entire outfits thrifted, so it’ll just be specific pieces I’m focusing on.

Monday

We start the week off designer.

This dress is fantastic. I found it at The Humble Lily in Omaha off of 107th and Pacific. I can’t recommend this place enough. This is non-profit run by the Bethlehem House that provides emergency housing for primarily pregnant women. I suggest to all my friends in Omaha that they go here at least once to shop and also consider donating any unwanted clothing to them.

Not only am I happy to support this cause, but this dress is forreal forreal. The dress is from a high-end New York fashion house, Carolina Herrera. Standard dresses from this brand retail around $2000 right now at Neiman Marcus. So that fact that I was able to find this dress in my size and pay $120 for it is astounding.

Tuesday

Got a little mix of thrift stores here.

The cheetah print top is from Beacon’s Closet in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. God, this thrift store was amazing. It was so huge and so well organized, which isn’t always the case. We found so much great stuff there.

The blue cardigan is from a Thrift World in Omaha. I remember getting some of my favorite pieces from this place like 6 years ago in a single trip.

Wednesday

This dress is Scout all the way. It’s a vintage piece I found a couple years ago there, and I love it so much. The purple is so amazing, and the length/shape of the dress is completely different than other dresses I own. I tried to make it a little more work appropriate by pairing it with a blazer, but normally I wear this dress in fairly casual scenarios.

The necklace is a piece I found at a sidewalk festival in Blackstone in Omaha a couple years ago. According to the guy who sold it to me, he picked up a bunch of pieces like it in Tibet. No idea how true that is, but I liked the piece anyway.

Thursday

I love this vintage orange top. I found it at a store in Omaha that was called Kleveland, which did a mix of vintage and regular retail. I also wanted to show you this beautiful vintage Dooney & Bourke purse I bought there, so I paired it with this outfit. Unfortunately, Kleveland closed down. It’s such a shame, I actually found quite a few pieces there I really liked.

Friday

Back to Scout. Probably the most dependable and most often-visited thrift store I have there. I actually bought this top and skirt together, because I loved them as an outfit. And guess what, I still love them as an outfit.

I also wanted to call attention to this beautiful thrifted bib necklace I found at Beacon’s Closet in Brooklyn. It’s a J.Crew piece that came out probably in early 2000s? Such a cool find, considering my accidental obsession with all things J.Crew.
