Week 5: Dresses

Wearing a dress is the Schrödinger’s cat of effort exerted in fashion. It can be both simultaneously lazy and not lazy.

The key to making a dress appear not lazy is proper fit and accoutrement. If you have appropriate jewelry, coating, shoes, etc., the dress appears purposeful and put together. Ideally this week will be non-lazy interpretations of what is, on the whole, an incredibly lazy theme.

Again, it was a short week, only 4 days for me.

Thursday

On Thursdays we wear white. Kidding. Sort of. But I have noticed that I tend to pick outfits focused on white pieces for my last day of the week… Interesting.

That’s all, folks.

Week 2: Contrasts

4-day week this time. I chose to do contrasting colors. Super straight forward color-theory rules here: yellow/purple, blue/orange, red/green.

I haven’t told anyone at work what I’m doing, but I’ve been getting pretty consistently positive feedback on my outfits, which is good! No one seems to think I’m being unprofessional or dressing too flashy. This week was, in my opinion, the first true test of how much I could get away with in a traditional, formal business environment. I wore a lot of bright colors and the contrasts definitely stood out against what my co-workers wear.

Here they are!

Tuesday

I’m very J.Crew, apparently.

Wednesday

I tried really hard not to be incredibly Christmas with this particular contrast. I *think* it went okay.

Thursday

This was my favorite outfit of the week. Also the one that got the most compliments.

Friday

Woohoo! Slightly more casual Friday. But not really. I went with black and white for my final day of contrast, an always classic color combo.

Fashion and Fun for business professional environment

I moved to Atlanta September 2018. With that came a new job; I’m now working at a formal bank. My clothing needs to be dressed up considerably -as compared to the intensely casual atmosphere of my TDA job back in Omaha.

As a general rule, I dislike being told what I have to wear. So I’ve created a new hobby. Weekly themes on clothing. Each week, I’m going to try and come up with a theme for my clothes to follow. I will be documenting each week’s theme with this blog. That’s the hope, anyway.
